​Tajik President Emomali Rahmon opened a new antimony production plant and launched the construction of another metallurgical enterprise during a working visit to Sughd region on July 7, the president’s official website reported.
During the trip, Rahmon visited Ayni and Shahriston districts, where he inaugurated a number of industrial, social and agricultural facilities.
In Ayni district, the president officially commissioned a metallurgical plant for the production of antimony at CJSC TALCO Gold. The enterprise is equipped with modern technology and can process and produce up to 5,000 tons of metallic antimony per year.
According to the presidential press service, the reserves of the deposit exceed 23 million tons of ore. They include around 50 tons of gold and more than 265,000 tons of antimony, making the deposit one of the largest in the region.
During the visit, Rahmon also laid the foundation stone for a new metallurgical plant. Once completed, the facility is expected to produce up to two tons of gold per year.
Schools, hospitals and other facilities opened
On the same day, Rahmon remotely opened 10 new facilities in Ayni district. They include education, healthcare, cultural and sports facilities built with the participation of local authorities, entrepreneurs and residents.
Among them is a new school in Fatmev village of Rarz jamoat (rural municipality), designed for 320 students in one shift. Several preschools were also opened, along with a 20-bed district hospital in Takfon village, which has 18 working and treatment rooms.
In the settlement of Zarafshon, a new building for School No. 37, an additional building for Kindergarten No. 4, a sports hall, the State Flag Square and Ismoili Somoni Culture and Recreation Park were commissioned.
According to the presidential press service, the two new schools can accommodate about 700 students, while new kindergartens in Zarafshon and the villages of Takfon, Lohuti and Urmetan are designed for another 700 children.
Rahmon also remotely opened seven economic and social facilities in Shahriston district. These include the Obi Bahor drinking water production workshop, a fish farming pond, a nursery for rare trees, a school for 240 students, a kindergarten for 240 children and two health centers in the villages of Vahdat and Sarobi.
Officials said the new facilities have created jobs for more than 130 local residents, including teachers, preschool workers and medical staff.
