Tajikistan’s telecommunications operators earned approximately 260 million dollars in six months

Private telecommunications operators’ revenues in Tajikistan for January-June 2026 amounted to over 2.4 billion somoni (approximately 260 $ million). This is the main part of the total telecommunications industry revenues, which exceeded 3 billion somoni for this period, according to the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan, citing preliminary data from the Tajikistan Communications Service.
The total industry revenue increased by 26,8% compared to the same period in 2025. Private operators accounted for more than 80% of all telecommunications sector revenues.
For comparison, the revenues of the national operator OJSC «Tajiktelecom,» the state enterprise «Pochta-i Tojik,» and structural divisions of the Communications Service amounted to 155 million somoni.Main income — from private operatorsThe main source of revenue for national telecommunications companies was internet and email services — 132 million somoni.
Also, during the first half of 2026, they earned:

• 12.5 million somoni from postal services;
• 2.9 million somoni from urban and rural telephone services;
• 7.6 million somoni from long-distance and international communications.

At the same time, mobile communications revenues are primarily generated by private operators, which are the largest market participants.
The growth in operator revenues is occurring against the backdrop of expanding digital services and an increasing number of communications users.
As of July 1, 2026, the republic had:

• 5.3 million internet users;
• 7.9 million mobile subscribers;
• approximately 6.1 million active mobile subscribers.

The development of the industry is accompanied by the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure. In July, the Communications Service reported preparations for launching a new backbone communication line from Dushanbe to China via the Pamir, which is expected to increase data transmission capacity and improve the resilience of internet connections.
The growth in operator revenues reflects increased demand for mobile communications, internet services, and digital services, which are becoming one of the key components of the country’s economy.
