GNI per capita in Tajikistan rose to nearly $2,100. But it remains the lowest in Central Asia

Gross national income per capita in Tajikistan at the end of 2025 amounted to 2,080. $ This is the lowest indicator among the five Central Asian countries. At the same time, it grew by approximately 26% over the year. This is evidenced by data from the World Bank, which updated its classification of countries by income level.
The new classification is effective from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 and is based on gross national income (GNI) per capita indicators for 2025.
According to the new classification, Tajikistan remains in the group of lower-middle-income countries. This category includes countries where GNI per capita ranges from 1,176 $ to 4,635. $
At the end of 2025, GNI per capita in Tajikistan amounted to 2,080. $ A year earlier, the indicator was 1,650. $ Thus, over the year it increased by 430, $ or approximately 26%.
When compared to 2020, the growth is even more significant. At that time, GNI per capita in Tajikistan was approximately 1,030. $ Over five years, the indicator has more than doubled.
                 At the same time, income thresholds are not immutable. The World Bank reviews them every year, including taking into account international inflation.

Among Central Asian countries, the highest GNI per capita in 2025 was recorded in Kazakhstan — 13,740. $
