Tajikistan strengthens aviation safety cooperation with Iran
Tajikistan’s Civil Aviation Agency has praised the expertise, professionalism, and collaborative approach of the Iranian team during their recent visit to assess the country’s aviation safety oversight, IRNA reported on December 21. The head of Tajikistan’s Civil Aviation Agency reportedly highlighted the unparalleled level of cooperation and expressed a strong commitment to further expanding ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various aviation sectors.
According to IRNA, this collaboration follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Civil Aviation Authority of the Islamic republic of Iran and the Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic Tajikistan, aimed at enhancing international cooperation in aviation safety.
As part of the agreement, a team of experts from Iran was dispatched to Tajikistan to audit and assess the safety oversight systems in place.
The Iranian experts reportedly conducted an in-depth evaluation of Tajikistan’s safety oversight system, examining eight key areas of aviation management. These included:
·         Legislation (LEG)
·         Civil aviation organizational structure and management (ORG)
·         Personnel licensing and qualifications (PEL)
·         Flight operations (OPS)
·         Airworthiness and fleet qualification (AIR)
·         Aviation accident and incident investigation (AIG)
·         Air navigation services (ANS)
·         Airports and ground facilities (AGA)
The assessment aims to ensure that Tajikistan’s aviation safety standards align with international regulations, fostering improved safety and operational efficiency in the country’s air transport sector.
This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening Tajikistan’s aviation infrastructure and its ongoing cooperation with Iran, with both nations committed to enhancing safety, technical standards, and operational capabilities in the aviation industry.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Islamic Republic of Iran  (CAA.IRI) is Iran’s civil aviation agency. It is the statutory corporation which oversees and regulates all aspects of civil aviation in Iran. This organization is primarily responsible for regulating aviation, overseeing flight safety, issuing licenses, and evaluating the performance of airlines and airports. The organization was established in July 1946 and it’s headquartered at Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran. It investigates aviation accidents and incidents in Iran.
