Paraguay’s president resigns after Ueno Bank crash
Paraguayan President Santiago Peña announced his resignation following the collapse of Ueno Bank, which left the accounts of nearly 3 million customers frozen.
«I made the decision to resign from the office of the president of the republic. I do this thinking of stability of our country,» he said.
Opposition senators earlier filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General’s Office, accusing Peña of illicit enrichment stemming from the scandal surrounding the digital bank.
