Khatlon Region has fully fulfilled its cotton harvest plan. This was announced by Davlatali Said, head of the region, at a ceremony marking Constitution Day of the Republic of Tajikistan on November 5.

According to the regional governor, 108,000 hectares of land have been sown with cotton, and 254,000 tons of the harvest have been harvested to date, 127,000 tons more than last year. This was reported by the Khatlon region press service. «By the end of the season, we plan to harvest up to 300,000 tons. I’m sure some of the harvested cotton is still in the hands of farmers.

This is due to delays in payments to farmers by cotton processing companies. But we’re discussing this issue; it’s under our control. The companies will pay off their debts to the farmers soon,» Davlatali Said emphasized. The head of the region also noted that the city of Levakant was the first to fulfill the plan, the city of Bokhtar was the second, and the Dusti district was the third.

At the same meeting, Sulaimon Ziyozoda, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, reported that as of November 4, 364,500 tons of cotton had been harvested nationwide, representing 93,5% of the planned harvest. Khatlon Region contributed 69,5% of the total harvest. Cotton harvesting is one of the priority tasks of the country’s agricultural sector, providing raw materials for the textile industry and making a significant contribution to the economy of Tajikistan.
