US energy secretary says further diesel supplies from Russia possible
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright has not ruled out additional shipments of diesel fuel from Russia in the future.
«Quite possibly,» he said in an interview with CNBC when asked whether more tankers carrying Russian diesel fuel would follow.
On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation during which they discussed, among other things, supplies of petroleum products. Putin said Moscow had reaffirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the US and global markets.
Earlier on Tuesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Russia had already dispatched three tankers carrying Russian diesel for export, with a fourth scheduled to depart on Thursday.
Russian companies could export 500,000 metric tons of diesel as early as October under agreements covering supplies to the US and global markets, Novak said, adding that Rosneft could account for the bulk of the exports.
