Trump doesn’t rule out Iran wanting to join Abraham Accords in future
US President Donald Trump doesn’t rule out Iran may want to join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with Israel some time in the future.
«Our relationship with Iran is becoming a much more professional and productive one. They must understand, however, that they cannot develop or procure a nuclear weapon or bomb. I would like to thank, thus far, all of the countries of the Middle East for their support and cooperation, which will be further enhanced and strengthened by their joining the nations of the historic Abraham Accords and, who knows, perhaps the Islamic Republic of Iran would like to join, as well!» he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The US brokered the Abraham Accords between Israel and several Arab countries in 2020-2021. In 2020, Israel normalized relations with Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. In 2021, Sudan established diplomatic relations with the Jewish state. Prior to the Abraham Accords, Israel only had diplomatic relations with Egypt, established in 1979, and Jordan, established in 1994, among the Arab states.
