Dushanbe to launch "QR Guide" project for tourists
A new project called «QR Guide» will be launched in Dushanbe, allowing visitors and locals to access information about the city’s cultural, historical, and tourist sites. The initiative, introduced by the Dushanbe city administration, will see QR code signs placed at key sites, providing detailed information in Tajik, Russian, and English.
The Dushanbe Tourism Development Department says the «QR Guide» project aims to enhance the city’s tourist infrastructure and provide accurate information about Tajikistan’s cultural and historical heritage. It is also part of the «Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development — 2025-2030» program, approved by Dushanbe Mayor, Rustam Emomali.
The core idea of the project is that by scanning QR codes on the signs, both tourists and residents will be able to access detailed text and audio information about 45 cultural, historical, and tourist sites. Initially, information will be available in Tajik, Russian, and English, with plans to add Chinese and Arabic in the future.
The signs, made of marble, will be installed at each site. The project is expected to improve the quality of tourist information services, promote Tajikistan’s historical and cultural heritage, and foster the growth of digital tourism. It will also reduce the reliance on unqualified tour guides.
