Somon Air will acquire up to 14 modern Boeing aircraft.
Somon Air and Boeing announced their intention to place the largest order in the Tajik airline’s history, for up to 14 modern, fuel-efficient 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft. This was reported by the Somon Air press service.
As part of the deal, the airline will acquire up to four wide-body 787-9 aircraft for the first time, which it plans to use to launch new intercontinental routes from Dushanbe. The new aircraft are expected to significantly expand its flight network and improve passenger comfort on long-haul routes. In addition, Somon Air plans to modernize its fleet by acquiring up to ten 737-8 aircraft.
These aircraft will be used on short- and medium-haul routes, increasing flight frequency, improving service efficiency, and improving passenger service. The company’s press service noted that the order will be an important step in strengthening Somon Air’s position in the international air travel market and will also ensure the development of aviation infrastructure in the country.
