UNESCO adopted the "Kyrus Manifesto" resolution on human rights and cultural diversity.
During the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, a resolution entitled «The Cyrus Manifesto: An Early Charter of Human Rights and Cultural Diversity» was adopted, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The resolution emphasizes the historical and spiritual significance of the Cyrus Manifesto as one of the first humanist documents proclaiming the values of freedom of conscience, respect for cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence. The initiative to adopt the resolution was put forward in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, set out in the Address to the Majlisi Oli «On the main directions of the domestic and foreign policy of the republic.»
The adoption of this document makes a significant contribution to strengthening universal human values, developing mutual understanding between civilizations and promoting dialogue between cultures within the framework of UNESCO. The resolution was proposed at the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran and received the support of the organization’s member states.
