Three Tajik citizens injured in Nizhnekamsk drone attack, foreign ministry says
The number of Tajik citizens injured in the August 10 drone attack on Nizhnekamsk has risen to three, Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Two of the injured have already been discharged from hospital, while a third, who had been receiving treatment in intensive care, has been transferred to a regular ward. His condition is stable and he is recovering, Sayedjon Shafizoda, deputy head of the ministry’s Information and Press Department, told Asia-Plus.
According to Shafizoda, the injured are residents of the Vose and Shahrinav districts.
«From the first minutes after the incident, employees of our Consulate General in Ufa, as well as representatives of the relevant Tajik state agencies in the Russian Federation, have remained in constant contact with the victims and their families, providing the necessary assistance and support,» he said.
Shafizoda added that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the victims receive proper medical care and suitable conditions for treatment and recovery. The authorities of Tatarstan are also assisting with their treatment and other needs, he said.
The Foreign Ministry had earlier said that information about the incident was still being verified and that the number of casualties could change as new details emerged.
A 30-year-old Tajik citizen, Ramazonali Basirov, a native of Sughd Province, was killed in the August 10 attack. The ministry said the necessary documents were being prepared to repatriate his body to Tajikistan.
The drone attack on industrial and civilian facilities in Nizhnekamsk took place on the morning of August 10. According to the latest figures released by the Tatarstan authorities, 13 people were killed, including a child. Nine of the victims died in a hostel in the city’s industrial zone.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the dead included eight citizens of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Tajikistan. Around 20 foreign nationals were injured.
The bodies of the eight Uzbek citizens killed in the attack were repatriated on August 12 aboard a special flight operated by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered the establishment of a government commission to assist the injured, organize the repatriation of the bodies and support the victims’ families. Several injured Uzbek citizens remain in hospital.
