Tajikistan presents digital roadmap for CIS transport corridors
Tajikistan has presented a draft roadmap for implementing the Strategy for Digitalization of the Main Multimodal Transport Corridors of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to the country’s Ministry of Transport.
The document was unveiled at the 16th meeting of the Council on Digitalization in Transport under the CIS Coordinating Transport Council, held on August 4 in a hybrid format.
The meeting was chaired by Russian Deputy Transport Minister Boris Tashimov and attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission and other organizations.
Discussions focused on the digital transformation of transport systems and the development of international transport corridors.
Participants reportedly reviewed implementation of the CIS Strategy for Digitalization of Main Multimodal Transport Corridors, the Action Plan for optimizing infrastructure and developing international transport corridors through 2030, and measures under the second phase of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for 2026–2030.
What has Tajikistan proposed?
Tajikistan’s delegation presented a draft roadmap outlining how the CIS digitalization strategy should be implemented in practice.
The document represents the next stage of an initiative launched by Tajikistan in 2025.
The strategy itself was developed and proposed by Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport during the country’s CIS chairmanship, with support from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
The document was approved at the 107th meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Dushanbe on September 5, 2025.
Later that month, on September 29, Tajik Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim presented the draft strategy at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Minsk, chaired by Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda.
The Council of Heads of Government approved the strategy and instructed the relevant bodies to prepare a detailed roadmap for its implementation.
The draft roadmap presented by Tajikistan must now be approved by the CIS Economic Council. Once approved, practical implementation of the strategy can begin, according to the Tajik Ministry of Transport.
Other countries present digital initiatives
Other CIS countries also presented digital transport projects at the meeting.
Kazakhstan proposed creating a Unified Digital Transport and Logistics Map of the CIS, while Uzbekistan presented a draft concept for establishing information and logistics centers.
Russia outlined projects aimed at the digital transformation of its transport sector and presented technological solutions already being used in the industry.
The Russian University of Transport also announced an international session on training specialists for the digital transformation of the transport sector. The event is expected to be held as part of the 6th International Scientific and Practical Conference on Digital Technologies in Transport and Logistics.
The Eurasian Economic Commission, meanwhile, presented its work on digitalizing transport and logistics within the Eurasian Economic Union.
According to the Tajik Transport Ministry, the meeting allowed participants to assess progress in the digital transformation of transport systems across CIS countries and identify priorities for further cooperation.
