Tajik Foreign Ministry updates Nizhnekamsk casualty figures: two Tajik citizens injured
Two Tajik citizens were injured in the August 10 drone attack on Nizhnekamsk in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Asia-Plus.
According to the ministry, one of the injured is in serious condition, while the condition of the second is described as satisfactory.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that information about the casualties is still being clarified and could change as new details emerge.
The Consulate General of Tajikistan in Ufa remains in contact with Russian authorities and continues to gather information about Tajik citizens affected by the attack.
Both injured Tajik citizens are receiving treatment at a hospital in Nizhnekamsk.
«The Consulate General and representatives of other Tajik agencies have been instructed to monitor their condition and keep the situation under constant supervision,» the ministry said.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry told Asia-Plus that information about possible Tajik casualties was still being clarified. At that time, it confirmed the death of a 30-year-old Ramazonali Basirov, a native of Sughd Province.
The ministry said the necessary documents were being prepared to repatriate Basirov’s body to Tajikistan.
The drone attack on industrial and civilian facilities in Nizhnekamsk took place on the morning of August 10. According to the latest figures from Tatarstan authorities, 13 people, including one child, were killed. Nine of the victims died in a hostel in the city’s industrial zone.
According to preliminary information from the Russian Foreign Ministry, eight Uzbek citizens and one Tajik citizen were among those killed. Around 20 foreign nationals were injured.
Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said all eight Uzbek citizens who died had been working as construction workers.
By order of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a government commission was established and a special working group was sent to Nizhnekamsk. It includes representatives of the ministries of emergency situations, foreign affairs and health, as well as the Migration Agency and other government bodies.
The group will assist those injured, arrange the repatriation of the bodies of those killed and provide support to their families.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on terrorism in connection with the attack. Tatarstan also declared a period of mourning.
Tatarstan authorities said the families of those killed would receive 2 million rubles each, while those injured would receive between 300,000 and 600,000 rubles depending on the severity of their injuries.
