Tajikistan’s judo team trains in Kazakhstan alongside world’s top athletes

Tajikistan’s judo team trains in Kazakhstan alongside world’s top athletes
Tajikistan’s national judo team has begun preparations for the second half of the 2026 season, joining a major international training camp in Kazakhstan after completing two stages of training in Dushanbe.
The camp, which runs through August 15 at an Olympic training facility in the Almaty region, has brought together more than 700 athletes from 30 countries.
Participants include Olympic and world champions, as well as winners and medalists from major events on the IJF World Tour.
For Kazakhstan, it is the first judo training camp of this scale. For the Tajik team, it provides an opportunity to train for 10 days in a highly competitive environment ahead of some of the most important tournaments of the season.

From Dushanbe to international training
The Kazakhstan camp continues an intensive preparation program that began at home.
The first training camp in Dushanbe was held from July 6 to 20, followed by a second stage from July 25 to August 4. Tajik judokas worked on physical conditioning, technique and tactics before traveling to Kazakhstan.
While the camps in Dushanbe helped athletes build their physical base, the international gathering offers something more difficult to recreate within a national team — a constant rotation of high-level sparring partners.
Over 10 days, Tajik athletes can train against representatives of different judo schools, each with their own grips, pace, fighting style and tactical approach.
Such experience is particularly valuable ahead of major international competitions, where judokas may face opponents with very different styles over the course of a single day.
