More than 1.2 million Tajik citizens visited Uzbekistan in first five months of 202
More than 1.2 million citizens of Tajikistan traveled to Uzbekistan during the first five months of 2026, according to data released by Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee.
Between January and May, 1,211,060 Tajik citizens reportedly visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes, making Tajikistan the third-largest source of foreign visitors to the country during the reporting period.
Overall, Uzbekistan welcomed 5.35 million foreign visitors in the first five months of 2026, an increase of 1.1 million people, or 27,3%, compared to the same period last year.
Kyrgyzstan ranked first in terms of visitor numbers, with more than 1.5 million citizens traveling to Uzbekistan, followed by Kazakhstan with approximately 1.25 million visitors.
The top ten countries sending the highest number of visitors to Uzbekistan also included Russia, Afghanistan, China, Turkmenistan, Turkiye, India, and Germany.
According to Uzbek statistics, approximately 2.7 million Tajik citizens visited Uzbekistan in 2025.
Tourist flow in the opposite direction
Data also show strong tourism exchanges in the opposite direction.
According to Uzbekistan’s National Committee for Statistics, more than 282,000 Uzbek citizens traveled to Tajikistan for tourism purposes during the first quarter of 2026.
By the end of 2025, Tajikistan ranked among the three most popular foreign destinations for Uzbek travelers, with around 1.3 million trips made to the country over the year.
Meanwhile, data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan indicate that 247,100 citizens of Uzbekistan visited Tajikistan between January and March 2026. They accounted for 56,2% of all foreign arrivals recorded in the country during that period.
According to Tajik statistics, a total of 1.118 million visitors arrived in Tajikistan from Uzbekistan in 2025, underscoring the growing tourism and people-to-people ties between the two neighboring countries.
