Tajikistan and Iran discuss establishment of textile clusters

Tajikistan and Iran plan to expand industrial cooperation with a focus on joint manufacturing and technology-driven projects.
The issue was discussed during a meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, which took place on the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of Industry Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, in the Kyrgyz resort city of Cholpon-Ata on June 6.
According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan (MoINT), the parties reviewed prospects for implementing joint projects in a number of sectors, including textiles, metallurgy, mineral processing, agricultural machinery manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, construction materials production, the chemical industry, and coal processing.
During the talks, both sides noted that industrial cooperation between the two countries is evolving from traditional trade relations toward deeper production and technological integration.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of the 2025–2027 cooperation plan. Among the key initiatives discussed was the establishment of textile clusters based on Tajik cotton and modern Iranian technologies. The project is expected to increase domestic processing of raw materials and boost the production of higher value-added goods.
The ministers also discussed the development of logistics infrastructure to support industrial cooperation, as well as the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence-based solutions in the management of industrial enterprises.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening industrial partnership and advancing joint investment projects, according to Tajikistan’s (MoINT).
Iran’s government wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the two sides discussed expanding trade, facilitating business procedures, and expanding cooperation in industry, mining, pharmaceuticals, and textiles.
