A prank at a wedding in Mehnatobod ended in arrest and administrative measures.
In Hamadoni, four young men were arrested for the staged and violent abduction of a groom during a wedding celebration. This was reported by the Khatlon Region Department of Internal Affairs.
A video has been circulated on social media and in several media outlets, showing a group of unknown individuals forcibly taking away Saidaliyev’s fiancé, Sulton (born 1999, a resident of the village of Mehnatobod, Khuzhamu’min jamoat), in a car. The author of the video, in an attempt to manipulate public opinion, linked the incident to the military draft, spreading false information.
An investigation conducted by the Khatlon police, together with other authorized bodies, revealed that the incident had nothing to do with conscription and was a staged prank by the groom’s friends. It was established that, according to an unofficial tradition common in the village of Mehnatobod, a group of the groom’s friends, as a prank and mockery, forcibly placed the groom in another car in front of the wedding house and drove him to another location. Afterwards, they left teeth marks (a hickey) on the groom’s neck and released him.
As a result, Khatlon police detained four participants in the incident. Administrative reports were filed against them for committing offenses, staging the incident, and humiliating the groom’s honor and dignity during the wedding ceremony.
Based on the court’s ruling, each of them was sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention: Emomali Sulaimon, born December 22, 2002, resident of the village of Mehnatobod; Mironov Abubakr Sabzaalievich, born May 25, 1996, resident of the village of Mekhnatobod; Mironov Amirkhamza Sabzaalievich, born May 13, 1993, resident of the village of Mehnatobod; Safarov Muhammad, born July 12, 1994, resident of the village of Mehnatobod. Furthermore, citizen Saidali Makhmadalievich Saidaliyev (born April 19, 1996, a resident of the village of Mekhnatobod), who filmed the incident and deliberately used it to discredit the National Army, is being investigated. Steps are being taken to initiate criminal proceedings against him.
